Region’s rising fashion stars come together at BIC

Some of the region’s brightest fashion entrepreneurs will be joining forces in the name of charity next month for the North East BIC’s annual Christmas event.

A fashion show with a seasonal twist is set to take place in the BIC’s recently refurbished Atrium area, with all profits from the evening going to the Grace House appeal. All aspects of the event are being taken care of by aspiring entrepreneurs, many of whom have started their own businesses in the region’s burgeoning fashion industry.

Paul McEldon, chief executive of the North East BIC, said: “We see this as not only an opportunity to raise money for Grace House, and to provide a great night for our tenants and clients, but as a chance to provide a platform and raise the profile of the young and talented people we are currently assisting in this area of business development.”

The co-ordination of the evening, billed as a fashion show and Christmas market, is being overseen by Carmel Hutchinson, 22 and from Sunderland, who is in the process of starting her own events company, Hauterfly.

The fashion show itself will be made up of three separate showcases from Era Vintage, Rare Ape and Kiwi Boutique, all of which will be displaying their winter collections.

Carmel Hutchinson said: “This event is shaping up to be a really stylish seasonal treat for attendees, who will get the opportunity to source unique Christmas gifts from the stalls, whilst getting a first look at some truly cutting-edge fashion, as well as contributing to a good cause.”

The event takes place on Thursday 3 December at the North East BIC. For enquiries and tickets call Chris Hair on 0191 516 6121, or email chris.hair@ne-bic.co.uk.
