Spreading the word about ships
In anticipation of the arrival of the Tall Ships Races 2010 in Hartlepool, Mayor Stuart Drummond is urging the town’s residents to get the word out any way they can.
The Tall Ships campaign has produced event leaflets for the races next summer, and Mr Drummond wants the local population to put the leaflets in any letters, cards and parcels they send off.
“People who sell on Ebay could include a Tall Ships flyer in their parcels without it adding to the cost. There is a massive trade in this market with goods travelling round the world and it would be an excellent way to help promote our event next August,” Mayor Drummond said.
And with Christmas just around the corner, the Mayor is asking people to add the flyers to cards and gifts that are being posted elsewhere in the country and overseas.
“The Tall Ships Races 2010 is the biggest event Hartlepool has ever hosted and we must take every opportunity to promote it.”
Hartlepool will welcome around one hundred vessels and one million visitors when it hosts The Tall Ships Races 2010 in August next year.
The fleet will be in the region between 7 and 10 August 2010 at the end of The Tall Ships Races. The vessels will have sailed from Kristiansand in Norway in the second and final race.
