Scott Racing car in top 50 inventions list
Durham-based company Scott Racing has made its way into Time’s annual list of Top 50 Best Inventions of 2009, as part of the team that built the WorldFirst EcoF3 car launched earlier this year.
The ‘edible car’, developed by the University of Warwick, uses sustainable materials and technologies in a high-profile sport known to launch the careers of future F1 drivers.
Its bio-diesel engine, developed and built by Scott Racing, runs on a mix of chocolate and vegetable oil. The company has been exploring innovations to provide motor sport with more environmentally sustainable, low carbon engine technologies.
Tim Scott, Managing Director of Scott Racing, said: “We are thrilled to have been part of this project and to have had the opportunity to demonstrate our technology developed here in the North East. Warwick University have done a great job of bringing all the partners together to build the car and getting the project the media exposure it deserves.”
Scott Racing is continuing with its biodiesel fuel and engine developments. It is also working on other low-carbon vehicle technology, including other biofuels and electric hybrid systems.
