New site Generates music industry buzz
At a time when North East music is firmly in the spotlight, one Newcastle based agency has set about fostering the next wave of artistic talent with a pioneering new website.
With the likes of Maximo Park and Detroit Social Club flying the flag for the region, Generator is hoping to become the major online destination for bands and music businesses throughout the UK.
The website, www.generator.org.uk, launched earlier this month, aims to provide people in the North East and beyond with frontline music industry news and guidance.
Joe Frankland, Programme Assistant at Generator, explained: “Now is a very exciting time for North East Music. With Field Music and The Futureheads gearing up for new releases and Beth Jeans Houghton, Frankie & The Heartstrings and White Belt Yellow Tag set to follow with debut albums in 2010, the spotlight will once again shine on the region.
“Generator has worked closely with many artists through our support programmes to make sure our new young bands can pick up the baton. This new site is a major step in their progress.”
The new site will feature ‘Plugged In’, Generator’s music business network, ‘The Directory’, a collection of music contacts as well ‘The Gen’, a fortnightly blog with articles on industry issues and events.
Chief Executive of Generator, Jim Mawdsley, added: “The site has been designed as a vital tool to let individual artists, musicians and businesses to stay ahead of the game.
“They will have access to industry advice and information on professional issues affecting the industry today.”
