Business agents give warm welcome to new ‘North-South’ link
The business travel sector is giving big thumbs up for the new ‘north-south’ link from Durham Tees Valley Airport to Southampton.
That was the message when representatives of business travel specialists met at Rockliffe Hall near Darlington at an event organised by the two airports and Eastern Airways, who introduced the twice-a-day weekday service just three weeks ago.
Emma Ormerod, Durham Tees Valley Airport Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “We already know from the response we have received from business travellers in the North East that they see the new service as a very welcome way of being able to do a full day’s business in the South of England and get back home the same day.
“It’s a similar story at the other end—reflected when around 100 businesses from the Southampton area gathered at a recent event organised by the local Chamber of Commerce.
“The event at Rockliffe Hall was a chance for us to promote the benefits of the route to the key agents involved in making business bookings in this region and in Southampton—and once again there was real enthusiasm for the service. There are many companies who have strong links with both parts of the country—for example in the chemical, pharmaceutical, energy and offshore sectors.”
Darren Roberts, Eastern Airways’ communications manager, said “As a high proportion of our bookings come through travel management companies and business travel agents, it’s extremely important that they sample our services and see the benefits of flying between Durham Tees Valley and Southampton. These travel specialists have seen for themselves how our convenient link to the south of England supports business and they can also appreciate the time savings and ease of using Durham Tees Valley Airport.”
