North East businesses unite in support to ‘Vote Joe’
As the X Factor enters its final week, Newcastle College is issuing a rallying cry to businesses across the region to ‘Vote Joe’.
Second year Performing Arts Student, Joe McElderry has swapped his classes at Newcastle College to perform on this year’s X Factor competition. Through to the final three contestants, Joe is counting on the support from the North East business community to secure his title as winner of the X Factor 2009.
In a final push to get people in the region and across the UK to vote for Joe this weekend, the college is encouraging businesses to spread the ‘Vote Joe’ message and pick up the phone this weekend.
A number of the region’s key businesses and employers are already showing support to the campaign. Newcastle Central Station are displaying posters, issuing PA announcements and putting good luck messages on departure boards. Nova International will be encouraging participants from their events to vote for Joe, and shoppers in Metro Centre will hear announcements across the centre over the weekend.
Newcastle International Airport are backing the campaign by adding ‘Vote Joe’ signs to departure boards, while Sunderland Football Club will make an announcement at half time at this weekend’s home match to encourage supporters to back their fellow supporter in the final.
Principal of Newcastle College, Bev Robinson, said: “We are delighted that Joe has made it to the final of the X Factor. The whole college has supported him throughout the competition and we are doing everything we can to let the North East know how proud we all are of his achievements to date.
“I am sure that Joe will continue to give outstanding performances, however, it is the public vote that counts. I hope that our campaign will encourage people across North East and indeed the UK, to vote for Joe this weekend and I wish him the very best of luck in the final.”
Businesses throughout the region are encouraged to spread the message of support to get staff and associates to vote Joe this weekend. Tune in to the X Factor Live Final on ITV at 7.30pm this Saturday to follow Joe’s progress in the final stages of the competition.
