Technology specialist in takeover deal
A Blaydon-based IT solutions group is set to push through the £500,000 turnover mark with the friendly takeover of a rival business.
IQ Business Systems, which specialises in IT consultancy, implementation and support, has acquired the IT support client base of Boldon-based Microcomputing Solutions.
The privately-financed deal involves IQ acquiring Microcomputing’s 40-strong maintenance and support client list, which ranges from SMEs to health sector, banking and local authority clients.
Ken Taylor, director of IQ said: “Although we were not actively setting out to grow the business through acquisition, when the opportunity arose to acquire a well-established and respected client base of the business, we saw it as a very logical step that would achieve many of our growth objectives.
“This acquisition has enabled us to significantly increase the size of our support client base and gives us a foothold into sectors where we are keen to establish a bigger presence.
“It puts us in a very strong strategic position and we see it as the ideal move through which to grow our market share and gain competitive advantage. We are very positive about the future of the expanded business.”
Chris Edmondson, managing director of Microcomputing Solutions, added: “A combination of customer demand and a high level of investment has seen Base2 Training flourish over the last year, and we took the decision to push forward by focussing solely on the training market.
“Our two companies share the same customer care values, so we are confident that we leave our valued support clients in the very safe and experienced hands of the IQ team, and we look forward to seeing them go from strength to strength.”
