Boxing legend talks to Tyneside
A charity event in aid of the Newcastle United Foundation will see the first public speaking appearance in the North East of a boxing legend.
Former World Boxing Organisation Champion Chris Eubank will speak at “An Evening with Chris Eubank and Friends” at St James’ Park on Thursday 18 February 18.
The charity dinner, sponsored by Watson Burton LLP and supported by Coors Light and Thomas Cook Sport, will also be attended by other celebrity and sporting guests.
The event will raise funds for Newcastle United’s own charity, which uses sport to make a difference to children, young people and families across the region.
Chris Eubank said: “I am looking forward to coming back to the North East. I fought there in 1995, a first round knockout against Jose Ignacio Barruetabena at Whitley Bay, and love the region’s genuine passion for sport. The following day, Sir John Hall kindly offered his Rolls Royce to escort me around for the day so I could speak to inmates at Durham Prison.
“I am delighted to be able to support the charitable work of Newcastle United Foundation. I hope I can help to raise funds to allow it to continue its excellent work in the local community.”
John Devine, partner in Watson Burton’s Sports Business Group, said: “Newcastle United Foundation supports a wide range of community projects and initiatives throughout the region, performing a vital role in advancing education, promoting healthy living and encouraging participation in sport at all levels. We are delighted to be able to help the Foundation to bring Chris to the North East.” To find out more about the evening, call 0191 201 8525
