Child safety technology made on Teesside
Computer experts on Teesside have developed new technology to help protect children when using the internet.
MC Ware and HD Forensics, of Stokesley, have launched Child Internet Safety - new software which prevents children from falling victim to unsuitable content online.
The intelligent system is able to analyse the browsing history of a computer to train it to block certain content and is also supported by an educational programme for pupils, teachers and parents.
The programme is delivered in schools by legal experts from the company while the new technology also addresses the problem of virtual browsing, hidden browsing and virtual machine browsing which allow users to bypass firewalls and other security programmes.
MC Ware and HD Forensics started life in 1998 and currently employs 14 people.
Managing director Jonathan Wheatley said: “The internet is now commonplace in schools and is used regularly by young people to help with their studies.
“However, there has been a worrying increase in misuse which can lead to young people becoming subject to unsuitable material and, sadly, paedophiles.”
