New businesses offered chance to ‘dance’ into offices
Budding entrepreneurs from across the North East are being offered the opportunity to win a year’s office space at a business park in Darlington.
‘Strictly New Business’ is the brainchild of Marchday Group plc, owners of Lingfield Point business park. The aim of the competition is to reward the entrepreneurial spirit of the North East and encourage anyone thinking about starting their own business to take the plunge.
In conjunction with Business and Enterprise North East, Marchday is encouraging would-be business owners to pitch their ideas to win the prize.
A selected number of finalists will be invited to present their business proposals in front of a live audience to a panel of respected and established local business people.
Each contestant will be marked by the individual panellists and the person with the most points will win the prize and become the latest occupier of Lingfield House. The prize includes rent, rates, service charge, buildings insurance and utilities.
John Orchard, director of Marchday said: “We felt that this innovative competition was an exciting way of showcasing the business talent of the North East. We are convinced that there are people across the region with innovative and practical business ideas who just need a helping hand to get started.
“Office space is a big consideration and a major cost when staring out in a new venture. By offering an office totally free for a year we hope to give the winning contestant every chance of success.
“We look forward to welcoming the winner to our supportive business community.”
Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business and Enterprise North East said: “This is an extremely generous prize offered by Marchday and I am certain that the competition will attract some very high calibre entries.”
