Eastern promise for North East exporters
Business opportunities in the warmer climes of the Middle and Far East are the topic for a breakfast session in Durham this week.
County Durham Development Company (CDDC) is partnering with airline Emirates, Newcastle International Airport, and Durham County Cricket Club to extend a free invitation to businesses to a breakfast on Wednesday.
Those attending will hear about a trade visit, organised by CDDC and UK Trade & Investment, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the end of March.
Emirates will also give details on the benefits of its direct daily services from Newcastle to Dubai and of its new daily service from Dubai to Tokyo. Newcastle International Airport representatives will outline the latest developments at the airport.
The UAE visit will coincide with a four-day floodlit match between Durham County Cricket Club and Marylebone Cricket Club to mark the start of the 2010 UK cricket season.
Stewart Watkins, CDDC managing director, said: “This will be a valuable event for anyone doing business – or seeking to do business – in either Japan, or the Gulf, where there are huge opportunities in sectors such as energy and the environment, defence, construction, finance, healthcare, transport, education and skills and professional services.”
The breakfast takes place between 8am and 10am on Wednesday 3 March at the Eighteen82 Lounge, Durham County Cricket Club.
