UK clients fuel Opsol expansion
An electronics firm has had its faith in the UK manufacturing sector rewarded by soaring sales which will see it triple in size next month.
Northumberland’s Opsol UK is on target to see its turnover jump from £1m to £5m in the next three years while in April it will move from its 4,000 sq ft Cramlington headquarters into a new 14,000 sq ft site.
The £350,000 move to the new site, which is only 100 metres from its current home, will allow for the addition of around 10 new members of staff to its 15-strong workforce.
The company supplies electronics brands such as Bosch with manufacturing services, components and design.
Although the firm has a supply chain linked to its Hong Kong office, its owner Malcolm Humble believes it is its focus on winning work with North East clients that has driven it through the recession relatively unscathed.
He said: “We are looking to focus on in-house manufacturing and servicing the North East with contract electronics.
“In April we will move into a building that is four times as big as our current home. And we are keen to develop the skills of people in the area.”
