New jobs head to Teesside
National engineering and construction group Costain is to create 30 jobs in the North East by setting up on Teesside.
The company’s energy and process division in its new Stockton home will provide engineering services for new facilities and revamps of existing ones.
The firm said its move was motivated by the region’s strong energy and process industry cluster, together with its pool of highly skilled workers.
“These factors when combined present an excellent opportunity for Costain in terms of the strategic investment planned for the UK in these sectors,” a company statement said.
The business will initially employ 30 people on the Preston Farm Industrial Estate.
Costain specialises in hydrocarbons, power generation and nuclear processing plants.
Peter Laing, general manager of Teesside operations at Costain Energy & Process, said, “This investment demonstrates the confidence Costain has in the North East of England and the region’s role in realising our growth plans for the Energy and Process Division.
“We are one of the UK’s leading companies with significant resources to draw upon and we’ve chosen to invest in the North East for good reasons, it has tremendous potential.
“We will initially seek to employ 30 people at Stockton and have ambitions to grow this number over the next couple of years.”
