Wind blows VWE down south
A North East wind energy business has taken its sales pitch to the capital as it looks to grow its national presence.
Newcastle’s Vertical Wind Energy, which supplies vertical axis wind turbines to schools, commercial properties, rural locations and farms, is in London today on the hunt for new business.
The company is exhibiting at the Ecobuild conference at Earl’s Court where it will explain to potential customers the funding stream available to purchase a VWE turbine, the planning consent process and the new government Feed-In Tariff (FIT) system.
Speaking at the exhibition, chief executive Tony Gordon, said: “Vertical Wind Energy turbines can generate electricity regardless of the direction of the wind unlike many conventional horizontal axis wind turbines.”
VWE established relocated its headquarters from Ireland to Prestwick Park near Newcastle Airport late last year.
The move was supported with the help of £1.2m of funding from Newcastle-based venture capital firm NorthStar Equity Investors (NSEI) and North East venture capital syndicate represented by Tiger Corporate Finance.
