Exchange event proves major draw

Over 2,000 people are expected through the doors at a key business event this week as north easterners gather in search of new opportunities and expert advice.

Yesterday around 1,100 people attended day one of Business Exchange North East at Newcastle Racecourse, with similar visitor numbers expected today, the final day of the event.

The event, which offers delegates with practical seminars and opportunities to win business and generate future leads, was organised by Business Link.

Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business & Enterprise North East - the organisation that delivers the Business Link service in the region - said: “Business Exchange has been designed to offer something for everyone, to help grow and develop business through new contacts, suppliers and customers.

Day one seminar highlights included an address by Dr Aubrey de Grey, a gerontologist from Cambridge University who encouraged businesses to ‘challenge convention’ with his theory that the ageing process can be controlled.

In the Exchange Exhibition over 80 businesses and organisations got to showcase their products, services and support services to the largest number of visitors to any business event in the region.
