Business Comment: Getting a sure signal
With Chris Lee, managing director of CCS
Operating your business with limited indoor mobile coverage can present all sorts of problems, not least when you consider that missed phone calls can mean missed opportunities. Similarly, if you live in an area with unreliable indoor mobile coverage then the flexibility to work at home is just not an option, if you need to stay connected.
For rural businesses in particular, of which there are quite a few in this region, limited coverage can be a huge headache. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however, in the form of a unique little white box that plugs into your broadband line to guarantee a mobile signal at home or place of work. Called Sure Signal, it’s the brainchild of leading network provider Vodafone.
There are a couple requirements businesses need to have in order to use this clever device. Firstly, you’ll need a 3G phone and secondly, a minimum broadband line speed of 1Mbps. Around 32 mobile devices can be registered to work with each Sure Signal box and it allows up to four people to use their phones or mobile devices at any one time, providing a strong indoor signal anywhere in the UK. And if you need more connections, then it is possible to buy multiple Sure Signal boxes.
Another plus, is the fact that businesses will also be able to take advantage of the full range of Vodafone services via their handset anywhere in the home or office.
As someone whose job it is to come up with business mobile solutions, this small device will make a huge difference in helping to solve problems for companies and individuals who operate in coverage blackspots. It may even mean that those thinking of relocating to somewhere more accessible, can now think again.
I take my hat off to Vodafone for coming up with such a great idea, it will certainly make some of our client’s lives alot easier.
