Seriously Speaking: NOF Energy joins bdaily
Welcome to a new column at bdaily from NOF Energy, the North East-based business development organisation for the oil, gas, nuclear and offshore wind sectors.
Each month we’ll be offering an insight into these industries and the opportunities available to companies operating in, supplying to and those with capability of entering the energy sectors.
NOF Energy has been working closely with the North East energy sector to promote its interests nationally and around the world for over two decades.
In more recent times, we have expanded our activities on a national scale. This has resulted in a significant growth in member numbers with membership now in excess of 340 from across the UK including a strong cluster in Aberdeen, which is well-known as Scotland’s energy capital.
North East England continues to have a vital role in the future of global energy, whether it’s in the established oil and gas market, the resurgent nuclear sector or the emerging renewables industry.
In our experience of promoting the energy supply chain in markets around the world, international operators and contractors are keen to do business with the North East.
This is due to a strong supply chain of companies, which offer skills, innovation and quality.
In particular, as North Sea energy reserves are located in deeper and harder to reach, the region’s subsea sector is becoming a real ‘sunrise’ industry.
However, to ensure the North East supply chain develops its ability to win new contracts in an increasingly competitive global market, it has to utilise the resources available.
NOF Energy provides a range of business development services aimed at identifying opportunities within the major global energy markets.
We work with members to help them secure an increasing share of business as well as grow their network of contacts and industry knowledge.
In the past five years, we have played a significant role in the level of business our members have won, which has been worth in excess of £50 million. In 2009 alone, at least £10m worth of new business secured by members has been as a result of NOF Energy activities.
Some of these contract wins have been as a result of newly formed alliances between members who are creating partnership agreements to increase their chances of winning new business.
Many of these arrangements have been borne out of NOF Energy’s calendar of events, which provide industry insight, through a selection of highly-knowledgeable speakers, but also excellent networking opportunities. Working together in this way, and by increasing its presence in global markets, this region’s supply chain can continue to grow its highly-regarded reputation for engineering excellence and be suppliers of choice for customers around the world.
