Eaga to win more contracts
Green support services firm Eaga is in advanced talks with two energy companies as it looks to expand its fast-growing carbon-saving division.
The Newcastle company, which runs the Warmfront scheme and handled the Government’s digital TV switchover, also said in a trading update that its managed services business was performing well – helping to offset the less favourable trading conditions in its heating businesses.
In January the firm won a three-year contract with Drax Power to deliver its Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP), which aims to help households cut fuel expenditure. It is now close to tying up deals with two further energy companies for CESP work.
“This progress clearly reinforces Eaga’s leading position in the CESP marketplace and provides a robust platform upon which to further develop our delivery model,” the company said in a trading update for the period 1 December 2009 to 14 April 2010.
The firm said: “Overall, trading during the period was in line with our expectations.
“The group’s balance sheet remains strong and we are well positioned to continue the group’s strategic development and exploit attractive opportunities in our markets which include the solar PV opportunity for which we will be providing an update to the market during May.”
The group also said the build up to the election meant there had been some slippage in the bidding process for Public Sector BPO contracts.
However Eaga expects this situation to ease towards the end of this financial year or during the first half of next. Meanwhile, the group said its outlook remains “encouraging”.
