Card firm comes top of the pile

A SPOT of animal magic has landed a North East company an award for the region’s best business card.

Cheeky Moo, based in Boldon Colliery in Tyne & Wear, designs and manufactures quirky farm animal toys and came out on top in the competition launched by JAK Print & Design.

Firms from across the region entered the contest, which was created to help local companies realise the importance of a good quality business card.

The award was judged on five main criteria – design, use of colour, quality of the card, memory hook and the overall impact of the business card – and Cheeky Moo’s flamboyant card won the prize of £500 worth of printing and the prestigious trophy.

Lynne Machin, founder of Cheeky Moo, said: “I am really pleased to have won the competition. I didn’t think we would, but I have to admit that every time we show our card to companies they make a comment.

“I really love it and it’s great to hand out as it always starts a conversation. It also shows what we are all about. I never really win competitions, so this is great news.”

As well as producing the toy animals, Cheeky Moo has also created a short animation featuring five of its cuddly farmyard characters and is in discussions about them featuring in their own educational television show.

The runners-up in the competition were 442 Consulting from Spennymoor and Big Little Fish in Darlington. Judging was carried out by father and son team John and Andrew Knowles, who own Darlington and Chester-le-Street based JAK Print & Design.
