3D plan gathers momentum
AN AUDIO visual company has strengthened its bid to become a national pioneer of groundbreaking 3D technology by signing its second partnership deal in three months.
Tyneside’s Blaydon Communications is targeting national growth by marketing visual technology which can be viewed in 3D with the naked eye.
The firm is hopeful of winning deals in the coming months with entertainment and leisure companies who could harness the technology through advertising boards and point of sale displays.
It is also aiming to introduce the technology to schools and other educational institutions as, according to the company, it has been proven to increase concentration levels among learners.
The technology works through ‘lenticular’ screen technology, which incorporates transparent, cylindrical lenses called lenticules to project light in acute angles to generate different images to each eye. In simple terms, it allows people to view 3D still and moving images without special glasses.
In March the firm was confirmed as the Northern channel partner for the Luminis 3D digital signage system.
It has now forged a partnership with one of the only 3D content providers in the UK – Sunderland-based Stereografix.
Stereografix is the brainchild of Saif Chaudhry and is set to address the big question currently taxing 3D technology commentators – “We have the technology, now where’s the content?”
Paul Dougherty, Blaydon Communications, said the company would be looking to create new jobs should the 3D technology live up to its huge potential.
He said: “I’m hoping it’s going to become a huge part of the business. It’s very new technology and we don’t know how well it’s going to go. Hopefully it will create jobs in the region.”
