Butchers saved from the chop
THE jobs of 15 workers at a butchers business, which fell into administration last week, have been saved following an acquisition deal.
Mike Fenwick Quality Catering Butchers, of Newton Aycliffe, has been taken over by Darlington-based Country Harvest Frozen Foods.
The deal will allow Mike Fenwick to continue to trade from its factory and retail outlet on Hurworth Road.
Country Harvest Frozen Foods Limited of Darlington successfully completed the acquisition of Mike Fenwick Quality Catering Butchers LLPyesterday.
Country Harvest’s David Bamlet said: “It is still business as usual and all customers andsuppliers are currently being contacted. In the meantime the businesshas been re-stocked, employees are back at work and customers can stillcontact the business.”
The administrator, David Willis of BWC Business Solutions said: “I am pleased to have been able to secure a deal so quickly enabling thebusiness to continue under new ownership and management.
“The acquisition will enable Country Harvest to offer a far larger rangeof products and services to business customers and the public throughoutthe North East and beyond.
