Stadium talks confirmed
ELECTRONICS manufacturer Stadium Group is in discussions which could lead to the sale of its plastics division.
The Hartlepool-based firm employs 120 people at its plastics arm which comprises Stadium Building Products and Quest Consumer Products, both based at Highams Park.
On 26 May consultations began with representatives of employees that may be affected in accordance with the relevant regulatory framework.
Stadium said there would be no changes to employee contracts prior to the proposed sale, and that employees’ existing rights will be protected during any transfer to a new owner if the sale goes ahead.
A further statement is expected to be released when the outcome of the commercial discussions is confirmed.
Last month the company said trading in the opening quarter of 2010 had been very strong and significantly ahead of the corresponding period of last year.
“Looking forward, customer demand continues to track ahead of last year, partly as a consequence of an overall improvement in underlying market conditions, and partly due to the benefit of a number of new business wins secured in 2009,” the company said.
