Swedes to welcome North East firms
A GROUP of life science and healthcare firms from the region will head to Sweden next week as they look to grow trading ties with the country.
Design consultancy Fat Frog, NAREC and Newcastle Science City are among the members of the North East delegation which will visit a major event in Gothenberg.
The group will attend part of the ‘Think Britain’ initiative - The Best of Modern Britain comes to Gothenburg - a three day event showcasing the best of Britain.
The healthcare conference aims to bring together leading members of the life science community, medical professionals, business people, academics and policy makers from Sweden and the UK.
Also attending will be representatives from One NorthEast’s Seagull project, which is a collaboration established with various Swedish development agencies to facilitate investment and increase trade and knowledge flows between Sweden and North-East England.
Caroline Theobald, recently appointed chairman of the north east chapter of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Swedish Consul for North East England, said: “Think Britain provides a fantastic opportunity for British and Swedish companies to start the conversations that will lead to mutually beneficial business opportunities.”
