Gaming execs plug into the region
MICROSOFT’S creative director Peter Molyneux and Ian Livingstone – life president of video games giant Eidos – will be among the heavyweight video games sector players discussing the future of the industry in the region later this month.
Codeworks’ flagship conference GameHorizon at The Sage Gateshead from 29 – 30 June will also feature Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games, who will discuss the role games will play on our daily lives in the coming years.
The conference, which is in its third year, is one of Europe’s top events for international games executives.
Host Ian Livingstone, was awarded an OBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours List for his contribution to the Computer Games Industry.
Headliner Peter Molyneux is one of the best known names in the international world of computer games and is recognised as one of the industry’s most articulate and eloquent speakers on the subject of computer game development.
Prior to launching Schell Games, Jesse Schell was creative director at Disney Imagineering Studio for seven years where he worked as a designer, programmer and manager. During the GameHorizon Conference Schell will be exploring the impact that games have on our everyday lives.
Mr Molyneux said, “GameHorizon is a unique event, with a very interesting audience mix. I’ll look forward to seeing what their reaction will be to the work we are doing at Lionhead.”
Carri Cunliffe, head of sector development at Codeworks GameHorizon, said**:** “This is the only European conference that attracts international executives and we are aim to have some innovative and thought provoking speakers that will give attendees a fresh view of the industry. We feel that this event is for anyone who is looking at the higher level business issues, new technologies and future opportunities in the games industry.”
