Coffee blend fuels surge in demand

A NEW coffee blend has helped a Teesside firm to a clutch of new contracts across the North East and in Northern Ireland.

Middlesbrough’s Moran Beverage Services spent two years developing Caffee Vinci with expert bean roasters in northern Italy.

Buoyed by £250,000 in investment to help market the brand and to expand the company’s warehouse and premises, the firm has won a string of new contracts to supply the blend.

Moran has agreed contracts to supply Caffe Vinci to La Pharmacie in Middlesbrough, the Shorthorn Inn in Appleton Wiske near Northallerton, The Laurels Coffee Shop in Staindrop, County Durham, Osbournes in Yarm and the Sanctuary at Belle Vue in Middlesbrough.

In addition, it has also signed an exclusive deal with Northern Coffee, a well-know coffee distributor in Portaferry, Co. Down in Northern Ireland.

Moran, based at Skippers Lane Industrial Estate, also supplies Rockcliffe Hall in Hurworth, Guisborough Hall Hotel, Newcastle University, Chadwicks Inn Maltby, near Yarm, Howards in Stokesley, North Yorkshire and the Dickens Inn coffee shop in Middlesbrough.

Jim Moran established Moran Beverage Services in the early 1980s, before the surge in demand for coffee thanks to leading High Street names such as Starbucks and Costa Coffee.

The company employs five people with plans to increase this with the launch of Caffe Vinci. Mr Moran said: “Caffe Vinci has really taken off, thanks to its unique yet smooth taste, which is proving a real hit with coffee lovers and, as well as this recent batch of new clients, we’re also in talks with some big names all over the UK.
