All go for SURGO
A NEWCASTLE construction firm has secured £6m worth of contracts in the region having fended off a number of competitive bids.
SURGO has tied down seven new orders and will undertake a major refurbishment of Durham University’s Trevelyan Building, in a deal worth £1m.
The company has also secured a contract from the University of Newcastle to update and refurbish the Ridley Building and is set to demolish a school in Blyth and replace it with sports playing fields.
Jeff Alexander, director at SURGO, said: “Winning any new work in the current climate is something of a challenge, but to secure seven contracts, across our core business, is great news for SURGO.
“We have a number of buildings nearing completion which will allow a seamless transfer of teams from once scheme to another.”
The privately owned company has an annual turnover of £50 million and employs a workforce of 200 people in the region.
