Stars and beyond for region’s budding musicians
ONE OF THE region’s most contemporary live music venues is helping young bands fulfil their dream of making it to the big time.
Durham Live Lounge is giving schools and colleges the feel of the professional stage to give them a leg up at a time when North East music is firmly in the spotlight.
Bob Senior, owner of the North Road venue, explained: “There is over a quarter of a million pounds of equipment here”.
“We all know that school budgets are tight at the moment and they look to become even tighter. We hope that arts and music sections in schools and colleges across Durham will come down and talk to us about what we can offer.”
Since its opening, the venue has attracted a series of regional and touring acts and has established itself as a respected watering hole amongst North East music fans.
Mr. Senior added: “We want the people of Durham to come down and see nationally recognised bands one week and a local band on their first steps to stardom the next.”
“We encourage local talent to come and talk to us.”
