Training is the future for NUBS
A TRAINING company is supporting young people in the North East by offering Newcastle University students a chance to put their human resources expertise to good use.
TDR, a Gateshead-based firm, has provided an opportunity for four students from Newcastle University Business School to undertake ‘real-life’ HR improvement projects.
TDR is a private training provider that offers learning opportunities both in the North East and nationally.
Training is aimed at school students aged 14 and over and adults in part and full-time employment focusing predominantly on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Ian Young, Managing Director of TDR said: “There is a need to remove the barriers between educational institutions and the workplace. Newcastle University Business School’s practical approach to placing students in real business environments is the ideal solution and bridges the gap. The placements are a fantastic opportunity to offer students hands-on experience.”
Daksh Singhal, one of the Human Resource Management students added: “Having gained two years work experience in HR recruitment in my home country India, I wanted to expand my international knowledge so researched universities right across the UK before deciding that Newcastle offered the best course and facilities for me.
“The consultancy placements have added a practical dimension to my understanding of the HR profession and different working cultures. I am sure the experience gained through overcoming problems and hands-on learning will be very useful.”
