New jobs for Newcastle production crew

A NEWCASTLE film crew will shoot a new series about a nationally renowned chef based in the Lake District, thanks to a £70,000 cash injection from Northern Film & Media.

Liberty Bell Productions has secured the first TV investment from Northern Film & Media’s £2.4m Finance for Business, with the launch of a new television chef based in the Lake District.

Lakes on a Plate features Keswick-based chef Peter Sidwell donning his hiking boots in search of locally produced British ingredients in and around the Lake District for a mouth watering series of 20 half hour programmes which will be shown on Channel 4 in the autumn.

The series, in production until mid September and filmed by a Newcastle-based crew, showcases Peter Sidwell’s impressive culinary talent as he finds local produce and creates sumptuous recipes.

Dianne Nelmes, Managing Director, Liberty Bell, said: “Peter Sidwell is a new and exciting culinary talent and I am thrilled that Northern Film & Media and North Star have invested in this series. Its’ roots are totally regional and Peter is passionate about cooking with local ingredients from local suppliers.”

Liberty Bell is based in London but has a record of programme production in Newcastle and the North East. It has a joint venture with Dene Films and the series will be post produced from their Newcastle edit suites, overseen by Dene’s Head of Development Claire Storey-Lambert.

The Finance for Business North East Creative Fund, in collaboration with equity investors NorthStar Venture Capital Partners, has invested £70k into the development of the project.
