SCM lands French deal
FRENCH pharmaceutical company sanofi-aventis has enlisted Northumberland-based contract manufacturer SCM Pharma to assist with a clinical trial project.
A year after appointing the company for the initial phase of the project, the world’s second biggest pharmaceutical firm will use SCM in the manufacture of a new cancer product currently in development.
The potent oncology product will be filled under sterile conditions and then released at SCM Pharma’s Prudhoe facility within two months, before being packaged at sanofi-aventis and distributed to clinical trial sites.
Dianne Sharp, managing director, said: “We are delighted to be working with sanofi-aventis again as it strongly suggests we are delivering to a high enough standard that reputable clients are willing to return and build a long term relationship.
“This project in particular highlights the strength of our niche offering in that we are able to provide a combination of specialist sterile filling services such as short-run radio-labelled and highly potent production for clinical trials and low volume licensed product supply.”
The deal with the French firm follows five new deals with US firms won earlier this year.
