Businesses urged to save event for heroes

ORGANISERS of a major event which aims to raise money for Help for Heroes have urged the North East’s business community to step in and help save it from being cancelled.

To date not a single ticket has been sold for a black-tie dinner to be held at St James’ Park which has been set up to raise funds for the wounded in Britain’s current conflicts.

The event is to feature a drinks reception, three-course meal, silent auction and golden balloon raffle with Craig Phillips – the winner of the first series of Big Brother – as special guest.

Meanwhile, auction prizes include an F1 helmet signed by either Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button and dinner for 10 cooked by a ‘master chef’ in your own home.

North East events company Silver Kitty Events is hoping members of the North East business community will play their part in making sure the event survives and raises much-needed funds for war veterans.

Managing director Dawn Sayers said: “It is such a shame this event may have to be cancelled, the servicemen and women deserve our support and I know the businesses of the North East want to show just how proud they are of them.

“I know times are hard but just think how hard it is for our troops, they deserve the support from us. I am urging everyone to show just how much the North East supports our heroes by helping us raise funds for this worthwhile cause.”

Tickets for the event cost £50. For more information and to book your place go to http://www.silverkittyevents.com.
