Motor group drives North East expansion trail
TUSTAIN MOTORS GROUP has acquired its third Vauxhall dealership in the North East as it bids to create 15 new dealerships and drive forward its plans for rapid expansion.
The organisation, which was launched in March 2010 by chairman John Tustain, a former chief executive of Bristol Street Motors, has acquired the Berwick upon Tweed site from Blackshaws Garages for an undisclosed sum.
The site has been trading since 2006 when Blackshaw invested £750,000 in extending its premises to accomodate the Vauxhall franchise.
“We are delighted to bring this previously family-owned business based in Berwick upon Tweed into the Tustain group,” said Brian Baxter, managing director of Tustain Motors.
“We’re already gaining a great reputation in the North-East and despite the challenging economic climate, we are optimistic about the continued expansion of the business.”
The move follows the March acquisitions of Vauxhall dealerships in Ashington, from Milburn Motors Garages and Alnwick, from Willis of Alnwick.
The firm said it now intends to grow by making further acquisitions.
Mr Baxter added: “The company is actively looking to purchase other dealerships in the North and Midlands.
“We are on target with our ambitious plans which aim to build the group to 10-15 franchised dealerships in the next few years.”
