Jobs secured following public grant
A NORTH East food packaging firm is safeguarding a host of jobs by updating facilities at its Wearside plant.
One North East has offered Interflex Ltd a Grant for Business Investment of £90,000 as part of a project to upgrade the company’s bread bag making line.
The project will ensure the company’s production line becomes more efficient safeguarding the jobs of 20 workers at Interflex’s plant at Sunderland Enterprise Park, which employs 110 people.
One North East Director of Business and Industry, Ian Williams, said: “There is a growing market for flexible printed packaging for the food industry due to demands placed on the food manufacturers to have lighter packaging for their products.
“I am pleased One North East has been able to support Interflex in this £600,000 project and wish them all the best in the future.”
Graham Tilley, Managing Director of Interflex, said: “I am delighted with the decision of One North East to support this local business. It’s great news for the Sunderland site, our staff and the local economy.
The Sunderland site currently has 110 employees.
