Major housing project gets underway in Stockton
A NEWCASTLE based housebuilder begins work this month on a major housing project in Stockton – which is expected to create at least 40 new jobs in the region.
The 16-hectare site on Yarm Road will see Bellway construct 474 new properties including two blocks of flats in the area.
The firm has let part of the site to industrial services oganisation Hertel Technical Services, which is moving from Billingham to a 160,000 sq ft manufacturing facility creating 40 new jobs in the process.
Norman Fada, Bellway’s North East land director, said: “This is an important development for us. It creates an attractive residential scheme at a key location with the size to make a real impact on the town and wider area.
“It is great to see the first steps take place towards transforming the Yarm Road site.”
Watson Burton has acted as legal adviser to Bellway for more rhan 20 years, advising on major residential schemes throughout the North East and the UK.
During that time Bellway has grown to become one of the UK’s top four housebuilders, employing 2000 people.
