IDS strengthens European network
MEDICAL testing kit maker IDS has snapped up a Norwegian firm and entered a partnership with a Dutch organisation as it continues to grow its global presence.
The Tyneside firm said has bought MGP Diagnostics (MGPD) for an undisclosed fee and set up a research agreement with VitaK BV of Maastrict in the Netherlands.
MGPD is involved in products related to the determination of a biomarker that can highlight conditions with soft tissues such as the carotid arteries and heart valves linked to cardiovascular disease.
Meanwhile, VitaK will work with IDS to accelerate the proof of concept studies needed in the same medical field.
Dr Roger Duggan, CEO of Boldon-based IDS, said: “This acquisition provides IDS with an IP-protected entry into an adjacent, highly complementary area of potential clinical importance.”
