Business leaders supply region’s potential

A North East based insurance broker and a major player in the construction business have joined forces to raise awareness of the ‘vast’ supply chain opportunities that exist in the region.

Henderson Insurance Brokers and London firm Constructing Excellence will host an event next month at a time when regeneration projects are receiving significant investment.

Jonathan Willett, director of Henderson Insurance Brokers, said: “Henderson Insurance Brokers is keen to make a tangible contribution to the North East business community by supporting initiatives such as this seminar.

“We hope that attendees will learn about the supply chain opportunities that may be harnessed throughout the development of major regeneration projects.”

PD Ports recently announced it will channel more than £15m into the first phase of expansion plans at Teesport’s container terminal to increase its capacity, positioning the port as a major player in the container market.

Meanwhile, property development firm Marchday is embarking on a £100m development which will see the creation of 1,200 homes, sports facilities, a school, healthcare facilities and a public green open space on a 107 acre site in Darlington

Catriona Lingwood, chief executive of Constructing Excellence in the North East, added: “The organisations behind these key regeneration projects have strong stories to tell about innovation, enterprise and how their schemes have the ability to transform the fabric of the North East. All of these themes will be of immense interest to our members.

“As well as hearing firsthand about the progression of these schemes, there also will be the opportunity for delegates to gauge what potential there will be to bid for work as these projects develop.”
