North East has designs on global success

A HANDFUL of North East designers will be given the chance to showcase their work to the world at a major event which starts tomorrow.

For the first time in its history Design Event North East is taking a selected number of designers to showcase their products at the worldwide design platform 100% Design, part of the renowned London Design Festival.

Annual design festival Design Event North East promotes and nurtures creative and innovative talent across the North East. Although the festival has been successfully running for five years, this is the first time that it will take eight regional designers to exhibit at the UK’s biggest design festival.

North East designers, Aether and Hemera, AFID Design, Bettina Nissen, Dan Civico, Kate User Surfaces, RASKL Limited, Sarah Blood and Amy Levinson will all feature on the Design Event North East stand at the 100% Design London event from 23 - 26 September, in a bid to get their products seen by some of the most influential buyers, manufacturers and retailers from all over the world.

The exhibition is divided into three sections; 100% Design, 100% Materials and 100% Futures – the latter is the platform for forecasting designs of the future and where the Design Event North East stand will be located (G100).

Design Event director Karen Stone said: “For the first time Design Event will be exhibiting at 100% Design with a group of designers who are a prime example of the innovation and creative talent being nurtured in the North East of England.

“We are so proud to be taking the best of the North East’s future design talent to such a high profile event where there will be exhibiting alongside big national and international design brands.

“Our designers will be showcasing their products as part of the 100% Futures platform. It’s an important opportunity not only for the designers and their businesses, but also for the region to be represented at such a large design arena.
