RICS scours North East for the next property superstar
THE SEARCH to find next year’s superstars of the region’s property and construction sectors was launched in Newcastle this week.
An event, organised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), begins an eight month quest to find top contenders for their 2011 awards.
The RICS North East Renaissance Awards showcase the region’s top projects and highlight the achievements and success of all property professionals working in the built and natural environments.
David Coulson, Chairman of the North East regional RICS Board, said: “The awards are a terrific opportunity for us to shout about the great things happening in this region. While the building projects are the focus, we specifically shine the spotlight on the talented professionals who are behind such fantastic schemes.”
All projects or parts of projects completed in the past three years are eligible and success does not depend on size or value.
Past entries have included small and unusual projects, such as a religious retreat, cattle shed and a land reclamation site, as well as multi-million pound city centre structures.
Mr Coulson added: “It’s at times like these that we need to raise the profile of the region and that’s exactly what the RICS Renaissance Awards can do as the results are widely published both in the regional media as well as professional journals, such as the Estates Gazette.
“Winners in four of the categories also automatically go through the RICS Awards in London, which has an international element and platform.”
The winners of the RICS Renaissance Awards 2011 will be announced at a glittering black tie dinner on 15 April 2011, at the Civic Centre in Newcastle.
