Expansion plan comes into focus
A PHOTOGRAPHY firm has set out plans for expansion after launching a training school aimed at unearthing new talent and helping older generations understand digital technology.
Anson Photography, based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, is to grow its workforce and move into new larger premises on the back of a bumper first year in business.
Company founder and former actor Lawrence Conyers has moved his fledgling business into Carlton House, one of the region’s newest enterprise hubs, and recruited a photography assistant to help take the firm forward.
The addition of Darlington College graduate and budding photographer Emily Franklin to his team will be followed by the recruitment of a new sales and marketing manager and another photographer in the coming year.
The move comes as the company plans the launch of a new photography training school which will cater for would-be snappers and older people who may own digital cameras but are unsure how to use them properly.
Anson will run classes of up to ten people at several locations near Darlington from December, incorporatingAdobe Photoshop and Lightroom sessions, photo walks and a special Christmas photography course in the run up to the festive period.
After Christmas, the company will also hold a special course called Silver Clickers, for older people who may have received cameras for Christmas and are keen to learn how best to use them.
Mr Conyers said: “I am thrilled with the new office, having finally emerged from being just a photographer to running my own photography business.
“The market can be challenging at times, but I am so passionate about my work and the office is helping us to step up a gear.”
Ms Franklin, 20, from Butterknowle near Bishop Auckland, said: “I have always been the type of person who greatly appreciates a good photo and have always been interested in the processes which are involved in photo shoots.
