Tech firm buoyed by funding boost
A HIGH-TECH company specialising in circuit boards and chips is expanding its operation and creating new jobs on the back of £40,000 of investment.
One North East has offered VIPER RF Limited a Grant for Business Investment of £40,000 to enable Viper to develop an engineering laboratory providing specialist high frequency test and measurement services.
VIPER also received £100,000 from One North East in 2009 to develop an exciting research and development project that could lead to further development at the Wearside firm.
The laboratory is critical to grow the company and service a greater range of customers and also improve productivity, creating four graduate engineering positions.
The regional development agency awarded the company a £100,000 R&D Grant last year to develop novel, reconfigurable electronic technology to make it easier for mobile phone network operators to roll out the next generation of mobile phone technology using existing infrastructure, removing the need to install new mast base unit electronics for every generation change.
Ian Williams, One North East Director of Business and Industry, said: “Not only will this project allow the company to continue to grow with the creation of a new state of the art laboratory, but it will also create much-needed high-calibre graduate engineering positions within the company.
