Directors shape up for future growth
TWO property developers who specialise in making homes accessible for disabled occupants have set out ambitious plans for the future after a series of contract wins.
North Shields-based Kevin Lamacq and Steve Smith have launched Shape, a specialist disability adaptation service that has already been listed on the official supplier rota for North Tyneside, Gateshead and Hartlepool Borough Council.
Recent projects include creating and modifying bathrooms within the Chipchase House project for the Percy Hedley Foundation, one of the largest North East charities supporting disabled people.
The company is now gearing up for rapid growth on the back of the coalition government’s intention to increase investment in disability adaptation.
Mr Lamacq said: “The software we use is unique and extremely beneficial for those wanting to adapt their home or premises. With our vast personal experience and acclaimed showroom, we are extremely proud of our offering.”
The duo opened the region’s first disability adaptation showroom and establishing strong relations with local authorities, occupational therapists and leading suppliers.
Both directors have disabled children and therefore have personal experience and understanding of adapting their home.
They initially went into business together four years ago focusing on property development, however their offering quickly evolved with the changing economic climate and the growing reputation for their expertise in disability adaptation.
