Experts draw up new masterplan for the chemicals industry
A NEW roadmap which hopes to plot a successful future for the region’s chemistry-using industries is to be unveiled later this year.
NEPIC and CPI will present the results of a collaborative review and update of the region’s innovation strategy for the firms which rely on chemistry in the North East in December.
The original strategy was developed in 2005 and, although has proved a success according to its creators, requires significant updating given the changing industrial and financial climate.
The updating process began earlier this year when consultants representing CPI, NEPIC and One North East carried out a series of interviews and workshops with industrialists, academics, the region’s centres of excellence and other stakeholders.
A re-assessment of the region’s innovation priorities was then presented to a workshop held in June and the feedback incorporated in the final strategy document.
