Design Event back on Tyneside
THE REGION’S biggest annual design festival event returns to the Baltic this week bringing a host of international design names to the North East.
This year’s MART encompasses a ‘Making it’ theme as the exhibition explores the materials, processes and skills behind how the works exhibited are made, starting right from initial sketches all the way through to the end product with designs displayed on specially built scaffolding stands.
Design event director Karen Stone said: “These innovative new works from designers practicing in the North East will chart the journey from concept through to finished product, as 22 designers exhibit their work with selected items available for sale or commission at this year’s MART- it’s an event not to be missed.”
Design Event is the region’s biggest annual design festival with a total of 26 different exhibitions, talks, and events over an 11 day period at venues across the region.
Celebrating design in all its forms including graphics, illustration, fashion, product and architecture, the festival will showcase the cream of the region’s design talent.
Design Event MART: Making it will also host an awards ceremony recognising exemplary designers exhibiting at the MART.
