“Going for Growth” - Major event comes to Tyneside
A LARGE-SCALE conference designed to “inspire and support” North East business owners is heading to Gateshead next month.
“Building Business for Growth” is the message behind the event and will encourage the region’s entrepreneurs to seize opportunities to build their ventures in turbulent economic times
The conference, in Gateshead on November 4, is open to all North East business owners and managers in a bid to provide a catalyst for the region to get ahead through growth, whatever the size of the organisation.
Carole Beverley, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “A lack of growth is something that never sits comfortably.
“For some, the economic climate of the last two years has made growth a exceptionally difficult. For those who have achieved growth, the need to guard against complacency has driven them to work smarter and harder.
“This is exactly the time to lean on the unique community of entrepreneurs within the Forum and reap the benefits that result from camaraderie and shared ambition.”
Spearheading the drive for growth is Sir Tom Farmer CBE, the founder and former chairman of Kwik-Fit and owner of Hibernian Football Club.
Sir Tom founded the Kwik-Fit Group in 1971. In 1997, two years before he sold it to Ford Motor Company for nearly $1bn, it achieved a turnover of £ 426m and a profit of £43m.
The company now operates through 866 centres in the UK, Ireland and the Benelux countries and employs 4,000 people.
Tony Moloney, CEO of Enterprise Foods will also be on Tyneside along with Emmy award winning Tom Gutteridge.
Building Business for Growth is at the Hilton Hotel, Gateshead, on Thursday, November 4 from 9.30am-5pm.
