Software firm enjoys rapid growth

A FLEDGLING software company from the region is about the open its fifth office and quadruple its workforce inside of three years.

The Test Factory, based near Sunderland, has seen its staff numbers rise to 20 to meet demand for their services from its international order book, which includes HSBC, BBC, Vodafone, the NHS and Microsoft.

The company, based in the eVolve Centre, Rainton Bridge, helps firms set up online tests for staff.

The results can then be used to identify skills gaps and carry out staff inductions and training.

Managing Director Kevin Beales said: “Software is an industry where it is possible for companies to expand rapidly with the right product, the right staff and the right support but even so we’ve been delighted at the progress we’ve made in such a short time– especially when you consider the economic conditions we’ve been trading in.

“More and more companies have begun to recognise how online assessments provide them with the vital information they need to make accurate and intelligent business decisions.

“We’ve been able to offer them leading technology and the best service to meet those needs, and that’s down to having the best staff. We’ve benefited hugely from the pool of talent the North East has to offer.”

The Test Factory has been supported in its growth by Sunderland Software City, the regional initiative assisting the growth of the North East software industry.

Bernie Callaghan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunderland Software City added: “The Test Factory are a terrific example of the kind of world-leading software firm with which Sunderland and the wider North East is quickly becoming synonymous around the world.”
