A SOUTH Tyneside school is getting a vital boost to its facilities as part of a £250,000 project.
A new fitness suite at BoldonbSchool Specialist Sports College has now been completed after as part of a major redevelopment on South Tyneside.
The facility has been designed by Newcastle based _space surveying, with construction being completed by _space build.
The project has also transformed the former fitness suite into an IT suite.
This will be the second time _space group has worked with the school, as the company’s architectural team completed a new school build in 2006.
This £18m project included the creation of a 25 metre, four lane swimming pool, 200-seat theatre, a floodlit all-weather football pitch and a multi-use games area.
_space group chief executive Rob Charlton said: “We are delighted to return to a school that we originally provided architectural work for, in a surveying and construction capacity – it shows how much the company has grown and diversified in just five years.
“The work at Boldon School Specialist Sports College will maintain the excellent learning and recreational opportunities at this North East school.”
