New destinations boost for winter sunshine seekers
A MAJOR UK Airline has given its support to one of the regions airports by expanding its winter flights programme, which will add 18,000 more passengers.
Responding to the demand by Durham Tees Valley Airport to increase its number of winter flights, Thompson Airline added two additional routes to Tenerife and Sharm el-Sheikh this weekend.
Durham Tees Valley Airport Director, Mike Morton, said: “We are delighted that one of the biggest names in the holiday industry is showing its confidence in the airport and the local market.
“Obviously Alicante is well-established as a very popular all-year-round destination and the return of flights to Tenerife will be widely welcome as it is one of the hot spot winter breaks.”
With many North Easterners hoping to escape the winter chill over the next few months it will provide two extra alternatives on top of the weekly service to Alicante.
Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Services for Thomson Airways said: “At Thomson Airways we are fully committed to our regional UK airports as we understand the importance of allowing our customers greater choice and flexibility.
“With over 30 new routes being introduced, those looking to escape for some winter sun this year will have more choice than ever before without the inconvenience of a long journey to the airport.”
