Major renovation at North East uni
A MULTI million pound renovation at one of the region’s major universities is set to generate £1.5m a year.
Newcastle University’s students’ union will undergo the major transformation, which aims to improve the overall experience received by its students, with work set to be completed by August next year.
The six-floor interior of the building will include a new student shop and a new bar area as well as being able to operate as a nightclub and concert venue.
Tom Delamere, President of the Union Society Said: “This is a very exciting time in the history of the Students’ Union. The Union’s contribution to the overall student experience is more valuable than ever, and this has been recognised through the investment in this project.
“With many young professionals remaining in the region after finishing university, the project will aim to enhance the overall offer to perspective students.
Tom Delamere, added: “In partnership with the University we look to offer an all round quality experience, and this project will ensure that the Students’ Union is as good as any in the country.”
