Region’s firms take on The Big Apple
NORTH EAST companies are being offered the chance to explore a string of lucrative Trans-Atlantic business opportunities as part of a £250m project.
The UKTI has confirmed it will be taking a delegation from the region to New York next March.
North America has been identified as a key market for companies in the North East, and there are business opportunities in virtually every sector including consumer goods, fashion, food and drink, and technology.
The visit will coincide with three key events: the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, a four day event showcasing products and services for the luxury design market; the Drink Americas Congress, for makers and suppliers of alcoholic drinks; and the International Vision Expo and Conference, the premier fashion and technology trade show for eyecare professionals in the USA.
Simon Crosby, one of UKTI’s International Trade Advisers, who will accompany the Market Visit, said: “The USA is the North East’s largest export market, and there has never been a better time to consider it as a place to do business, given the limited growth rates in some traditional European markets.
“Market Visits are a great way for businesses to do some in-depth research and meet potential customers.”
David Coppock, UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Director for the North East, added: “Research has shown time and again that companies who export are more resilient.
“The North East has a strong export tradition and this new and improved support will help maintain the region’s strength in this area.”
