Expansion wheels are turning for North East firm
ONE of the region’s leading green transport companies has revealed plans to double its workforce and move into a new 21,000 sq ft site as part of its ambitious drive for growth.
County Durham firm Elecscoot is reportedly bolstering its staff numbers and moving into new premises in Dipton, near Stanley, after outgrowing its Consett-based assembly facility.
The move to the new plant will enable the UK’s leading producer of allelectric scooters and cycles to add a compact electric delivery vehicle and a utility pickup to its range.
Ian Allison, managing director of Elecscoot, said: “I wanted to provide an affordable, electric delivery vehicle that I would be happy to drive.
“The E-Truck is easy to use, easy to maintain and very easy on the wallet. Our electric scooter business has taught us that the best way to provide a fleetready vehicle is to have complete control over the drive line and battery management system.
“We built it, so we know how to provide the best technical support and aftersales service for it.”
